Optimisation of mix design of concrete paving block using response surface methodology

Abstract This study investigated the optimal water/binder (w/b) and aggregate/binder (a/b) ratios in producing a concrete paving block. The w/b a/b block were optimised using response surface methodology (RSM), considering performances of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), flexural, compressive strengths. Regression modelling was conducted to represent relationships between UPV strength flexural Generally, UPV, strengths increased with increment ratio reduction ratio. RSM suggested 0.35 for 3.50 a/b, that could exhibit 4.11 km/s, 4.13 MPa, 33.2 respectively. predicted values from varied less than 6% compared experimental values. polynomial regression model effectively relationship
